Herbal Guide

What are you trying to help?

Choose the closest area, then choose the symptom or pattern that best matches. If you are not sure what to choose, search or describe what is happening instead.

Start here Choose the closest area

You do not need the perfect label. Pick the area that is closest to what is happening.

Choose an area above to see the closest symptom and pattern choices.
Not sure what to choose?Search or describe symptoms insteadOptional
Optional searchDescribe what is happening in your own words

Use this when the choices above do not feel obvious. Herbal Guide will suggest a working pattern; if you accept it, that becomes the same selection the choice pathway uses.

Pattern map · not a diagnosis

Useful details: wet or dry · location · duration · what is strongest · what is getting better or worse.

Describe what is happening, then find the closest match.
Search results will appear here. You will not be sent back to choose the symptom again.
Who is this for? This changes safety rules and what the Guide can show.
Add more contextOptional duration, severity, and safety notes
How long has it been going on?
No duration selected. The Guide can still continue.
How Herbal Guide worksOptional background
Core principleWhat is happening now + the broader cause/context

The author teaches that successful herbal work addresses the symptoms happening now while also considering the underlying cause. The app helps organize observations and body-system support; it does not diagnose a medical cause.

Timing principleSupport early, consistently, and through recovery

Reassess rather than assuming one plan should continue unchanged.

Know the boundarySafety rules still override convenience

Medical red flags, medication conflicts, pregnancy, infant/child limits, and other safety gates still take priority.

Your starting plan

Here’s the plan I built from what you told me

Your description is already carried into this plan. Review the working pattern, what the plan needs to accomplish, and the safety check below. You do not need to choose the symptom again.

Describe what is happening above to build your starting plan.
Safety Check
Before using these herbs, check anything that could change what is appropriate

Choose anything that applies. If none apply, choose “None of these apply.” Then confirm that you reviewed the safety check.

How to use this plan

Your Plan

This is the same plan you just reviewed. Follow the core sequence first, then reassess. Sourcing, evidence, Book passages, safety information, and technical detail remain available when needed.

What You Are Addressing
Your working pattern will appear here after you describe what is happening.
How to Use It
Describe what is happening first.
Adaptive formula workbench
Formula Studio

Build around the primary goal, then deliberately account for meaningful contributing patterns. The engine favors overlap-efficient ingredients and keeps secondary objectives visible instead of silently merging formulas.

Formula Studio: condition and symptom patterns can be used for adaptive formula planning. Significant medical/safety contexts can still pause formula generation, restricted herbs remain excluded, and pediatric/pregnancy numeric dosing remains suppressed.
1
What are we supporting?Start fresh with a wellness goal or continue directly from a Guide pattern.
2
How should we build it?Choose the feel of the formula. Balanced is the recommended starting point.
Support approachBalancedGlobal default only; pinned objective routes stay pinned.
Advanced formula controlsArchitecture, safety filters, delivery assumptions, and formulation logic
Formula architectureAdaptive is recommended. Change this only when you deliberately want a different structural strategy.
Safety filtersNo Formula Studio safety filters selected

These filters conservatively remove ingredients whose existing library caution text overlaps the selected context. This is a screening layer—not medication clearance.

Delivery targetChanges physical-feasibility calculations only; it does not choose ingredients.

How to Source ProductsA practical guide to finding the right herb, form, and product
You do not need a particular brand. Start by matching the ingredient, correct plant part, and a form you can actually use. Then compare the label and source quality.
Buy ready to useLocal herb shops/apothecaries, natural-food stores, supplement shops, and reputable online herb suppliers commonly carry tinctures, glycerites, teas, capsules, and topical preparations.
Buy the dried herbUseful for tea and for making your own tincture. Look for the correct plant part and a clearly identified herb rather than an unlabeled powder or vague blend.
Common culinary herbsSome herbs such as garlic, ginger, cayenne, fennel, peppermint, and rosemary may also be available through a grocery, produce, spice, or tea section.
Make it yourselfUse the preparation information in the protocol. The book gives general tincture ratios by plant part and explains making alcohol or glycerin tinctures.
Before you buy
  • Match the herb name and, when available, the botanical name.
  • Match the plant part used by the guide: root, leaf, flower, bark, etc.
  • Choose a usable form: loose herb/tea, tincture, glycerite, capsule, or topical.
  • For tinctures, look for the extraction medium and strength/ratio when the label provides it.
  • Check other ingredients, fillers, lot/batch information, and expiration or manufacture date.
  • For supplements, prefer a label that clearly states the amount per serving; independent quality testing is a useful plus.
Book-mentioned source: The book specifically mentions Butterfly Express for ready-made tinctures and dried herbs. The app does not require that supplier; availability changes and other reputable suppliers can work. Check Butterfly Express ↗

Formula Evolution Lab

Compare the inherited source formulation with an intentional Herbal Guide revision. Draft v2 formulas preserve source lineage, record every keep/add/remove decision, and cannot become current until an Author/Admin explicitly approves them.

v142 boundary: the evolution portfolio now contains thirty-two reviewed formula concepts: twenty-seven current Herbal Guide v2 formulas and five documented review holds. The v142 batch reviews twelve distinct unmet jobs across topical, digestive, urinary, throat, ear, and women’s-health lanes; nine earn current v2 status while three are held because they duplicate an existing Herbal Guide job. Ingredient composition and decision logic are recorded without automatic ratios or therapeutic dosing; higher-risk medical, pregnancy, pediatric, clot, and infection-treatment lanes remain excluded.

Educational wellness and Book-reference information only. This app does not diagnose disease, determine an infectious cause, prescribe treatment, or replace medical care. Named conditions and higher-risk subjects are reference-only. Seek qualified medical care for severe, worsening, persistent, unusual, or high-risk symptoms. For commercial products, follow the product label and discuss medication, pregnancy/nursing, pediatric, surgery, kidney/liver, or other significant safety concerns with an appropriate clinician.

About source labelsFrom the Book identifies material attributed to Machelle Littlefield’s The 1-2-3 Guide to Effective Herbal Medicine. Book-grounded identifies app organization based on the Book’s action-first method. Neither label is a claim of clinical effectiveness. Supplemental safety/evidence information is kept separate.
